About this artwork
Three thresholds of gesture – Threshold I (white and red)
Threshold I is the series' original act. White becomes a field of tension, while red, primary and flowing, erupts as an irreversible event. The gesture does not construct form, but rather exposes itself to time and gravity, leaving the loss of control visible.
The contrast between white and red amplifies the vulnerability of the line, suspended between decision and abandonment. The painting… appears as the trace of a single action, with no possibility of return.
Cosmo Ucciferri (Isernia, July 31, 1979) is an Italian artist who lives and works in Isernia. A graduate of the "Manuppella" Art Institute, he develops a contemporary pictorial research focused on gesture, sign, and the expressive power of color. His works emerge from a balance between control and instinct, where the pictorial gesture becomes an emotional and physical trace. White is often a central element: a space for breathing and tension, in dialogue with flowing and layered primary colors. Through coherent and recognizable series, Ucciferri explores the relationship between order and chaos, transforming the canvas into a field of energy and movement. His direct and material visual language makes each work unique and immediately identifiable, capable of engaging with contemporary spaces and private collections.
