About this artwork
Even as a child, I was a big fan of science fiction literature and films. I also like watching documentaries about the development of space exploration. The photos of the universe fascinate me completely and give me a feeling of freedom. I have dealt with this topic in my previous series of pictures, but this time I simply wanted to depict a journey through space and time as it lives in my imagination. I like to work with different spatulas, metal or rubber spatulas, which give the picture a 3D effect and create vibrations in the colors through the pasty application. This is how I imagine a journey through space, not as a journey through empty space, but as an encounter with an infinite firework of colors and light.

Ewa Martens is a versatile artist known for her intuitive and experimental approach to abstract art. Using acrylic paints, texture pastes, inks, fabrics, and other materials, she creates a lively, spontaneous dialogue on canvas—playful yet precise.
