About this artwork
In this significant oil on linen work (100 x 150 cm), titled DSC02346.jpg, the artist employs the mathematical precision of the Fibonacci sequence to critique the structural crises of the Western world.
The painting serves as a visual metaphor for the fragmented reality in which modern society operates. The vast, hyper-realistic cracked desert and the floating, disconnected "Tetris" blocks symbolize a world broken into isolated compartments. This… fragmentation represents our psychological dissociation: the cognitive gap that allows us to witness the destruction of our planet while maintaining a cycle of compulsive consumption. The Tetris pieces, in their artificial geometry, highlight how we attempt to fit life into rigid, gamified structures that ignore the organic wholeness of the Earth.
Amidst this barren landscape, a monumental green apple stands as a beacon of Vitalism. It represents the urgent need to pivot toward a reality that prioritizes life, breath, and organic connection.
« Reality is a wholeness. Fragmentation is an illusion. »
Ezequiel Martínez Llaser is an artist with a long international career. She was born in Argentina in 1981 and lives in Paris and Barcelona. She studied art and philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires and Paris VIII, and participated in various workshops with leading artists on the current scene. Coming from a family of photographers, he felt increasingly drawn to the visual arts, which allowed him to convey his philosophical ideas. His art, primarily large-format surrealist oil paintings, is a deconstruction of reality and the values that dominate our society. His latest series, "Fragmentation and Totality," questions Western rationalism with vitalist philosophical concepts (Nietzsche and Bergson). He is influenced by the painters Dalí and Goya. He has held important exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, and Paris. In 2019 she participated in the Florence Biennale. Since 2022, his work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.
