About this artwork
In Red Turn, a landscape unfolds that moves seemingly weightlessly through the white space, creating a variety of surfaces and spaces of its own. The shapes seem to flow, as if they had a life of their own as they move through and change the space. This creates a subtle interplay between heaviness and lightness that permeates the work. The lines and structures create flowing transitions and condensed areas that fluctuate between dynamism and stillness,… giving the image a mystical, constantly changing quality.
Fabian Ling is an artist who has found a permanent place in contemporary art with his unmistakable style. His work is less about holding on to clear forms and more about exploring the spaces in between—visually and emotionally. His works move skillfully between abstraction and figuration. His gestural brushstrokes and multi-layered compositions reflect his deep engagement with the unknown, always searching for the tension between reality and imagination.
