About this artwork
This pictorial work is configured as a refined synthesis between the solemnity of classical statuary and the expressive vehemence of contemporary street art. The subject, a sculptural face inspired by Greco-Roman iconography, emerges from a tumultuous background, soaked in graffiti and inscriptions that recall the visual lexicon of the metropolitan context. The chromatic dominant, centered on the cold shades of blue, gives the image an aura of hieraticism… and timelessness, accentuating the contrast between the marble fixity of the figure and the dynamism of the surrounding context. The pictorial material, treated with evident gesturality and thickness, suggests a temporal stratification, almost evoking the erosion of time on visual memory. The word "AETERNITAS", emerging in the upper part of the composition, acts as a pregnant semantic element, underlining the tension between the perennial dimension of art and the transitory nature of the artistic expression of street art.
Fabrizio Ceccarelli, an artist of the Italian pop neo-figurativism, expresses himself through a mix of techniques that include acrylic, oil, spray and airbrush. His style is a successful fusion between the aesthetics of pop art and the dynamism and irony of street art, creating bright, fluorescent, and vibrant contemporary works, where each figure is drawn and painted by hand without the use of printing or digital techniques. He mixes elements of cinema, fashion, and comics to explore themes such as power, love, ecology, and violence. He gives his works a penetrating irony, revealing hidden meanings behind the mirror of a pleasant aesthetic.
