About this artwork
Abismo is a sculpure deicting a man sitting on the edge of a cliff, gazing into te vod with his hands separated from his ody in a gesture of grasping or what has been left behind. For an artists hands are a symbol of creation, identity, and life itself. Losing them is a profound mutilation, an absence that can only be compensated by what dreams and dares to imagine.
The piece recfectsa pivotal moment in he artistˋs life; he deciion to leave Italy… and move to Mexico in 2006. That "leap into the void"involved deep pesonal and professional losses, but it was also essential for her artistic and human world.
Abismo stands as tribute to risk, inner strenght, and the transformatie power of sacrifice.

« The stories of each character, isolated in an intimate and personal dimension, are reflections on human values, perceptions and emotions. »
Francesca Dalla Benetta is an Italian sculptor based in Mexico. After 10 years working as a makeup artist in the film industry, Dalla Benetta is now a dedicated full-time artist. Her work is characterized by anatomies and mixed forms. Faces and human bodies are combined with different textures, skins and elements, giving rise to hybrid and fantastic beings. Through unusual, strange and surreal bodies, her pieces focus on the problems of transformation, identity, the sense of belonging, self-perception and dreams.
