Being held is not a possession - it is a feeling.
Painting and collage in warm earth tones. This work speaks of warmth: of comfort that doesn't glitter. And of love that doesn't ask if you're ready. It's an invitation to let go—simply to realize that you are being held. Not possessed. Not controlled. Simply: held. An image like an embrace—hand-glued, but free from any conditions. There are embraces that hold on tight. And those that simply hold.… This work does the latter. Layer upon layer, it applies warmth, not to bind—but to create space. This work doesn't tell a loud story. This work whispers of support that doesn't hold on tight. Of comfort that doesn't glitter, but carries. Here, paper is glued. Here, paint adheres. But what truly remains is invisible: the feeling of being held. And perhaps—just perhaps—it holds you too.
Gaby Wieging is a qualified designer with international experience and has worked as a mixed-media artist since 2000. In her work, she makes inner processes visible – as subtle traces of perception, thought, and condensation. Her images invite viewers to pause, observe, and follow their own resonance. She is not concerned with representation, but rather with approximation: to moods, transitions, and what lies in between. She works primarily with acrylics and collage, combining materials such as paper, sand, chalk, and foils. In conceptual series, she follows self-imposed rules and clear structures that guide and simultaneously open up the process. Through free experimentation, new visual languages and unexpected results emerge. A key element is the dialogue between image and language – supplemented by titles, quotations and short reflections that give the works an additional voice.
