About this artwork

Toen ik hem kenbaar maakte dat ik portrettekeningen maakte, nam deze Spaanstalige Colombiaanse heer, zonder veel woorden, een pasfoto uit zijn portefeuille en duwde deze in mijn richting met een gezichtsuitdrukking die me liet verstaan dat hij wou dat ik hem tekende.

Ik nam zijn aanbod aan, gezien ik toen van plan was om steeds meer tekeningen uit mijn pols te schudden en verder te groeien. Ik was tevens bezig met mijn grens te verleggen naar steeds… kleiner en dit was wel het kleinste formaat dat ik ooit ben aangegaan.

Ik nam dus zijn uitdaging aan en ging aan de slag. Het resultaat zie je nu dus hier.

Later kwam er via deze grootvader nog een opdracht binnen om zijn Colombiaanse kleindochter 'Alexia' te tekenen. (Te zien in deze reeks met de bruine achtergrond en het golvende haar).
