About this artwork
This small drawing I started during spring, in April 2025.
Looking for a subject to draw, I drew inspiration from everyday life, some good adolescent memories and a concert ticket to see this man perform live (for the first time) later that year.
Some of you might recognize the young singer and poetic well-read lyricist from 'The Smiths' named 'Morrissey', whom together with the brilliant guitarist and songwriter 'Johnny Marr' and other band members… 'Andy Rourke' (bass) and 'Mike Joyce' (drum) made headlines in the musical Indie scene with an international impact on teenagers during the 80's.
Their music is still picked up by teenagers and adults as we speak. Their legacy still appreciated to this day.
I must confess, I was a Smiths addict during my adolescent years and their short-lived 5 years existence.
I found an early picture which I thought captured his essence beautifully (the poetic gesture, the unusual clothing, the expression), and this is the result.
