About this artwork
Love can be towards our parents, a partner, our children, our friends... our beloved country. Love is a wonderful thing: it inspires us, excites us, motivates us. But how painful a broken heart can be, broken by unrequited love, or when this love is disappointed or lost for some reason.
This painting represents a frustrated love, a broken heart, split in half that suffers from a loss. The inspiration came directly from my heart, broken with pain… by the current war in Ukraine. I love the peace that has been broken along with my heart.
Bright and powerful colors that I apply with the brush and the palette achieve a painting with a lot of strength and expressiveness. The work is made in a diptych that strengthens and symbolizes this rupture with more forcefulness.
