Igor Eugen Prokop’s painting “Green Line” originates from biological and geographical nature, that is, from reality itself, yet it reaches far beyond mere representation. The work is not simply a landscape, but a carrier of moral and existential questions: it draws the boundary between the present and the future with a single, decisive gesture—the green line.
The green line is both concrete and symbolic. It is concrete because it marks the life-giving… force of nature: vegetation, water, and the promise of regeneration. It is symbolic because it is also a line of division: it separates the livable world from the hellish heat and drought that are not inevitable natural phenomena, but the consequences of human activity. In this way, the painting becomes a visual metaphor for the tension between nature and human-made destruction.
