About this artwork
As a cute boy, I contacted girls and kissed them; nothing else mattered. Uncute men were jealous and evil; they wanted me mentally ill and bullied me. No one intervened, was loving, or offered life advice. I was baffled, afraid, and frustrated. I fought for acceptance. A severe depression hit me. I sought therapy. None of them were truthful. My mental struggle kept going. Life was too hard and hopeless. I took early retirement and became a free spirit.… A shaman later revealed the truth: they wanted the women for themselves and sought to stop me.
Two decorated tribal faces can be glimpsed; I find humans are evil. Tribal patterns and figures promote a free, calm, easy, and humble life. "Mask Off, Live Your True Life" at the top, "Free from Western Pressure" at the bottom, "Cute Is True" down the left, and "Fake?" in the middle serve as key messages. The death cross: I might as well be dead without women, while the peace and love symbols promote the endless love of cute-hearted humans.
Jasper Borup, a Copenhagen-based artist, uses mediums like pencils, rulers, and a compass to create on paper. His technique involves a liberating expression of colorful, aesthetic abstract patterns overlying motifs of good versus evil. By layering squares, circles, and triangles, he channels the abstraction of his strife towards the cruelty in the world. His works serve as a cathartic venting of his pent-up frustrations and mental anguish, transcending into a profound journey for peace, love, and harmony.
