About this artwork
Everything is beautiful, but unfortunately, everything is also transient. Butterflies are superbly adapted to specific habitats and often live for only a few weeks a year. Our natural world is worth protecting; everything revolves around the individual and the preservation of biodiversity. The nectar-feeding moth (Macaria brunneata) sits on an umbellifer, enjoying and living in the moment without knowing the now, before, or after. Everything revolves…
around the protection of flora and fauna while the small moth contentedly sips nectar, climate agreements fail, and the primeval forest continues to be burned. My own emotions are also in flux. What will our planet look like in one hundred or even two hundred years?

Joachim Lippl is a painter, photographer, and draftsman who is self-taught in exploring color, form, and reality, and who has also shared his knowledge as a lecturer. His works encompass dynamic abstract compositions as well as realistic portraits, in which he explores the versatility of oil paint and moves between different techniques. With his work, he aims to make intense emotional experiences tangible through the interplay of light and color.
