About this artwork
Soda cans are an item that has been carefully designed not just as a container but as a mini artwork aimed attracting consumers. However, once they are empty, they are discarded in their millions without a second glance. By reworking these ignored artworks into a new and unexpected items the artist attempts to give new interest to the humble soda can. Inspired by Rodin's hands, this series of hand sculptures aims to capture the emotions or gestures…
that are such an important part of human life. This artwork is one such expression, that of universal welcome. The sculptures themselves are deliberately left unfinished to evoke the feeling of a charcoal sketch, while curving pieces of metal that of the muscles and tensions in the hand.
