About this artwork
Shalom in Hebrew means peace and at the same time hello. The painting sings the colors of life. On the right stands a score and on the left the Bible. Between the two flow in cascade the Shabbat table, the prayer books, the fruits, the wine, the flowers... All the symbols bringing together the family. The artist's parents were no longer there and the rabbi, seen on the left, is his great-grandfather. Does she draw a parallel with the artist (herself)…
Zarka Josiane? Alone, accompanied by a goat, her eyes looking away, questions the viewer? This board is filled with symbols and musical lines. Zarka has been working for a long time on the musicality of forms and lets an air of poetry shine through in all his works.
The work is from 1997, framed, on linen canvas. The interested person may request an additional photo of the work, framed.

« I paint as I draw and I draw as I paint »
Josiane Zarka is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in France whose works have been widely exhibited nationally. In addition, her art has been featured in publications such as Le Dauphiné Libéré. Originally inspired by the impressionists, Zarka's current pieces translate the landscape as she moves, in the form of rhythmic musicality, corresponding to the vision she has of that form. Her distinctive compositions are most often created with acrylics and oils on canvas.
