About this artwork
When the water of the IJssel River is smooth, the light sometimes reflects breathtakingly across the sky. I came across this scene a while ago during an evening bike ride along the water. I couldn't help but dismount, make some sketches, and capture this wondrous light on canvas.
This painting comes with a steel wire mount for easy hanging.
Linde Larrivee, a largely self-taught painter with studies in psychology and extensive independent training, works in oil on canvas to create realistic yet dreamy landscapes. She employs multi-layered techniques, utilizing thin and gradually thicker layers of paint, allowing earlier underpaintings to remain visible and infuse depth and atmosphere. Her style is evocative, using compositional choices and luminous depictions of light to invite contemplation. Through her art, she conveys a profound sense of tranquility and invites viewers to slow down and reconnect with the subtle beauty of nature that is often overlooked.
