“What Remains” is a work of quiet power and vibrant energy. Created during the pandemic—a time of standstill, uncertainty, and introspection—it nevertheless carries a profoundly optimistic message: that something essential always endures, even as everything around us changes. Using a multi-layered mixed technique of acrylic paint, spray paint, and collage, the artist constructs an atmospheric world in which transparent glazes, gestural marks, and… luminous accents of pink and red combine to form a surprisingly harmonious composition. The gray of the background—a metaphor for that difficult time—is punctuated by lively, almost dance-like brushstrokes that radiate movement, new beginnings, and vitality. A printed surface lives on beneath the layers, shimmering almost imperceptibly: a silent reminder that the past does not disappear but sustains us. A work that resonates in every room.
Lupe Godoy, born in Valencia and now living in Berlin, works primarily with acrylics on canvas and paper, complemented by photographic and drawn elements. Her painting moves between abstraction and figuration, experimenting with materials and techniques and continuously exploring new forms of expression. She creates color-intensive series that address botanical, social, and ecological themes. Despite a critical perspective on the present and nature, her works always radiate confidence and hope, inviting viewers to believe in the power of artistic possibilities.
