About this artwork
'Red Hot Amadeus' refers to a poster on the wall of the studio where the model was posing and is included as part of the painting on the left-hand side.
Lynn Bushell, a painter educated at Edinburgh University and College of Art, works in oils and is deeply influenced by the rich colorful tradition and Fauvist legacy of Scottish painting. Her landscapes are inspired by the Normandy coastline and her themed works reimagine art historical masterpieces in contemporary situations. The colour and texture of the paint surface is of primary importance. “I want the spectator to follow the physical and mental process of creating the painting with me. Sometimes I might have painted it over half a dozen times, leaving a small area which ‘works’ to contribute to the next layer. I love this sense of a painting changing and growing over time." Lynn has had Solo exhibitions in London at The Thackeray Gallery, Kensington, Roy Miles Fine Art, St James' and The Rotunda, Hampstead. Mixed shows include The Royal Academy, Highgate Fine Art and Roland, Browse & Delbanco. She has work in The Government Art Collection.
