This one-of-a-kind painting reflects my inquiry into the nature of originality in contemporary art. In our pursuit of the authentic, must we disregard the towering beauty and mastery of those who came before us?
Why do we create art? Is it for the artist's self-breakthrough, to make a mark before we leave, or to enrich others?
Duchamp's urinal made a statement a century ago. But what does it mean that today, a banana taped to a wall echoes that… gesture decades later and gains fame? Is it still radical or merely repetition under the guise of novelty? How much longer will we circle this idea?
