Exhibited at XI International Triennial of Tapestry in Poland. Materials: wooden sticks, sisal. 270x300x300 cm One vertical = 30cm wide x 270cm high/ easy to roll up.
In this work, I was interested in showing the composition of rhythms interpenetrating the verticals and at the same time the openwork effect of the associated tissue of each individual vertical. Each riser is built of transverse wooden sticks wrapped in black dyed sisal string.
The… installation is inspired by a small fragment of the forest in a beautiful contrasting morning light.
Vertical elements can be composed freely ... just like nature does :). In other photos I show an example from one of the exhibitions where the entire installation hung from the ceiling, interestingly harmonizing with the light from nearby windows.
All work elements such as sisal dyeing, trimming sticks, wrapping sticks with string, tying elements are hand made by me.
« The creative process is an intimate record of “suchness of me” at a given moment in life. So creating is a path for me, not a goal. »
Malgorzata Krakowiak grew up between the easels and looms of her parents, artist painters, where the wafting smell of sheep's wool mixed with paints and turpentine. During her studies, she also chose the option of painting and artistic fabric, which she explores with passion to this day. Over the years, she has mainly developed her career as a Fiber Art artist, exhibiting two- and three-dimensional objects, taking part in individual and group exhibitions in renowned museums and galleries in Poland, the artist's home country. Since 2018, she has lived and worked in Majorca, where the extraordinary nature of this island is her source of inspiration. She includes her delights in the richness of the tissue of matter, light and colour in the current cycles FISH and SUBLIMAT, where she uses innovative techniques to combine the worlds of painting and fabric. For several years, she has been regularly participating in Art Fairs and successfully developing cooperation with designers. The artist's works can be found in private collections and public institutions around the world.
