About this artwork
The painting is part of the cycle on migrants which emphasizes resilience as a common feature of migratory birds with the multitude of men in migrations. This time the shocking image gives the measure of the drama and the seagull can be seen in both a symbolic and a realistic way.
The composition is material and has tactile values. In fact, a cotton fabric was superimposed and glued to the canvas keeping the small irregular folds: this preparation… helps to give three-dimensionality to the waves of the sea and the shadows change according to the lighting, so as to break the fixity of the image.
