About this artwork
"Let's save Socrates" refers to saving the whole world of art of philosophy and culture. In recent years we have witnessed scenes and speeches, even by some of the most authoritative representatives of the philosophical academic world, which to define embarrassing would be an understatement and so we are witnessing the lack of the most fundamental principles of ethics and morals. They are trying to shape a man without his own critical thinking, a…
dull man who has no interest in the knowledge of life and "A life without research is not worth living for man - Socrates".

« The inspiration is the perception of a moment when we can do something. »
Marco Stocco, an Italian artist born in 1970, lives between Italy and Brazil. Self-taught and drawn to figurative art, he began his first paintings, often depicting enigmatic female forms and faces. Along his artistic journey, Marco moved to Brazil, where he currently resides. Initially, the pace and vibrant cultural diversity of Brazil shook him and almost disoriented him emotionally, but then, through observation, he perceived and grasped new, precious creative stimuli. Marco treasures all these stimulating inner experiences, which later lead him to express new sensations in his paintings. In 2009, he created "Orpheus," his "imaginary interior photojournalist," an enigmatic and contemplative character that represents himself, channeling these sensations into which he then materially expresses them on canvas.
