About this artwork
This is a colour study from January 2020. As my practice has evolved I’ve let go of imposing a given idea or theme onto whatever I’m creating, favoring organic creation emerging from the subconscious plane. The work reflects whatever is lying dormant within me, ultimately revealing themes during my artistic practice. My inspirations are often unknown to me when I begin painting as creating from the subconscious is integral to my practice, but memories…

Marit Geraldine Bostad is a Norwegian abstract colourist whose work has been exhibited internationally and most recently selected for the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize shortlist. Geraldine’s paintings investigate themes such as the inner psyche, nature and memory, expressed as pure abstraction through her unique approach to the Nordic colour tradition.
