About this artwork

This is a painting made at my residency at ESKFF/MANA Contemporary, Summer 2018. My project at ESKFF was to look at my own painting process, to free myself from routines and patterns, predetermined way of doing things. This residency became a turning point in my career, at this point I started my journey inwards - to explore more of the unknown, the unlearned, getting a closer contact with my materials and the painting process itself.

Marit Geraldine Bostad is a Norwegian abstract colourist whose work has been exhibited internationally and most recently selected for the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize shortlist. Geraldine’s paintings investigate themes such as the inner psyche, nature and memory, expressed as pure abstraction through her unique approach to the Nordic colour tradition.
