About this artwork
This colorful and abstract artwork presents itself in a vertical format and is dominated by a central, circular element in warm yellow, orange, and red tones, reminiscent of a sun. From this center, numerous curved lines and organic shapes extend in a jumble of colors such as blue, turquoise, brown, gray, purple, pink, and various shades of red.
The composition is dynamic and asymmetrical. On the left, curved shapes in shades of blue and green… are visible, suggesting waves or flowing movement. Further down on the left, spiral elements in darker tones are also visible. At the top of the image, there are more intertwined lines and abstract patterns in shades of red, orange, and blue, suggesting a kind of energy or movement.
To the right of the center, slimmer, elongated shapes in shades of brown and gray can be seen, some straight, some wavy.
Mathias Schneider, born in Offenburg, is a versatile artist who experiments with media such as oil paints, pastels, and ink. His techniques are characterized by the liberating spontaneity of sotsu-i and the precise immediacy of ippitsu-ga; he constantly oscillates between sketchy freedom and meticulous attention to detail. His works are visual meditations that express the harmony of body and mind, utilizing mystically inspired symbols and metaphors to address a deeper dimension of unity and self-discovery.
