This painting was born from a simple, almost insignificant moment: a conversation between two friends.
But as is often the case, the essential is hidden in the details of everyday life.
They were talking about chocolate. Not just taste, but power.
From this ability to transcend the senses, to open up the imagination, to provoke an almost visceral emotion.
Then, gently, their words drifted elsewhere — towards life, love, death.
As if, deep… down, beauty is never found in great things, but in the way we look at the simplest things.
The canvas captures this in-between moment. This suspended, almost magical instant, when one of them cried out:
"Oh my God, Patrick Roger..."
A moment when everything changes, when taste becomes emotion, matter becomes thought, and the everyday becomes poetry.
Like chocolate, the work is both dense and delicate.
