"Errigal" - stone sculpture
This original quartzite sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by organic abstract expressionism, postmodernism and geometry. Quartzite is the hardest one of all rocks, and just like marble it is a metamorphic rock which was originally pure quartz sandstone. The artist's concept is to create with this most hard material various… abstract landscapes of common places on Earth rich in this beautiful and extremely hard stone material. Errigal is a mountain near Gweedore in County Donegal, Ireland. It is the most southern, steepest and highest of the mountain chain, called the "Seven Sisters".
The sculptural unique spacial form is carved with the help of an extraordinary maze of carvings and details, leaving the feeling of airiness and lightness. The artwork is one amazing solid stone masterpiece and exquisite modern home décor.
