About this artwork
In this piece, I explore the illusion of control and the quiet intelligence that moves beneath it.
The anglerfish believes its light gives it power. It dominates the darkness with spectacle. But the octopus does not rush toward the light. It studies. It adapts. Two tentacles are already beneath the threat before the confrontation even begins.
I painted this as a reflection on awareness — on the idea that intelligence does not always announce itself.… Sometimes the greatest strength operates below the surface, patient and observant.
“Beneath the Light” represents depth over display, strategy over impulse, and presence over reaction.
