About this artwork
Permafrost (permafrost) is a layer permanently frozen beneath the surface of the Earth. It consists of soil, gravel and sand, usually bound together by ice. Permafrost usually stays at 0C (32F) or less for at least two years. If the earth's temperature increases as expected, it will melt and CO2 gas could escape endangering the human species.
Sangie wishes to denounce here the impact of the human on our Earth, the one of which which engendered… us, which nourishes us and allows us to breathe. It mixes on this canvas this ecological awareness, this dramatic observation, with the beauty of feminine curves treated as an abstract representation of motherhood, a pregnant woman who puts her child into the world.

Sangie is an emerging French artist whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including Miami Art Basel. Growing up with a painter grandfather, she was inspired to create art and developed her style in Abstract Expressionism. Her background as a dancer informs her artistic practice and she channels the same energy and gestures to play with light, color and movement on canvas.
