About this artwork

“Magneta” is a painting with a hypnotic character: the magnetic, allusive and ethereal gaze of the young woman captures attention, aided by the chromatic games in which the hyper-realistic image is fragmented, impregnated with transparencies created with scraps of newsprint. It is the fragmentation of the contemporary ego that often recurs in my paintings and appears everywhere. The warm tones of orange and straw yellow flirt with the reassuring… beauty of shades of emerald mixed with turquoise, capable of evoking the crystalline purity of the seabed. There is a subtle implication of the unconscious, of the unsaid, a spell that manifests itself, that transpires delicately. And while chaotic lines of news relating to our sometimes incomprehensible and violent world would like to say - but in fact they don't say - Magneta speaks the universal language of seduction and beauty and her gaze thus manages to become an irresistible magnet.
