The Demons inhabit a dark side of Scotland - The old Caledonia of long, dark winters, pagan rituals, monsters of the deep and the creatures that lurk in the hidden corners of our minds and in the minds of the scientists where the Demons wait to be unleashed.
It is almost two decades since Ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave scientist the go ahead to experiment in cross fertilization, using human and animal embryo's. But, in the darkest of minds… the possibility to create a hybrid human/animal mutant remain as compelling as it was then, and almost too tantalizing not to be explored.
« As an artist I'm constantly exploring different styles and emotions My art is a fusion of contemporary and classical inspired by the old Masters but defined by the 21st century. »
British artist Steve Fraser has always been fascinated by mythology and the imagery accompanying folk law and traditional stories. Inspired by the the symbolism of the Renaissance and Baroque movements his artworks explore the myths and legends of his own Scottish heritage. His pieces reference Scottish culture and it's place in contemporary society, tartan abstracts, Celtic symbolism and legendary creatures are evoked on his dark and luminous canvases. A key thread throughout all of Steve's works is the notion of redemption, that the human spirit can rise to be the best it can be and the uniqueness of the individual. Dramatic and evocative pieces which transport the viewer into a lush other worldly setting.
