About this artwork
Limited edition of 20 Mixed media hand painting/print on silk stretched on a deep edge canvas.
Produced using the ancient art of suminagashi floating ink on water. This technique was used by Shinto priests to meditate.
The water has a life of its own and the suminagashi ink utilises this power with tensile properties of the ink on water. Emotions , memories and thoughts are pondered and meditated whilst moving the inks across the water. Japanese… washi paper is then dipped in to produce a print , or sometimes the water is photographed.
Then printed on to pure silk , stretched and repainted and gilded with copper leaf .each one is slightly different as I handpaint over the top to produce a mixed media . This is an edition of 20 and each one is unique as I paint over in sumi ink and 23ctgold m leaf and copper

« Sometimes beauty takes your breath away, moving us emotionally to another place. This rush of serotonin from nature and emotions cannot be replaced in an artwork, but I can try. »
