Achromatische Farben sind ein Symbol für die vollständige Kontrolle des Geistes über Instinkte und Wünsche. Diese große Willenskraft und Selbstbeherrschung ist nicht allen Menschen eigen. Die Atmosphäre voller Grauschattierungen gibt einer Art von Menschen Trost, während andere, emotionalere Typen Apathie, Depression, Verzweiflung und Gleichgültigkeit gegenüber dem Leben empfinden.
In diesem Bild drückte ich ein tiefes Gefühl der Leere aus, das durch… den Verlust von Motivation und Leidenschaft verursacht wird, die das Zentrum der Bewegung und Energiequelle sind. Der Kampf zwischen weißen und schwarzen Formen wird unsere Aufmerksamkeit auf das Gleichgewicht in der Komposition lenken und das dominante Grau besiegen.
