About this artwork
In Green Forest, I sought to convey that feeling of immersion in nature, that moment when everything becomes silence and breath. I didn't want to paint a visible forest, but a felt forest—the one we carry within us, made of memories, light, and mystery.
While working with the pigments, I allowed the material to settle freely, as if it were following its own life. Shades of green, gold, and shadow mingled, gradually creating a depth in which I myself… became lost. It was in this loss that the canvas took shape: a kind of passage, an inner space where nature becomes emotion.
For me, Green Forest speaks of an intimate connection with life, of a fragile balance between light and darkness, between the visible and the invisible. It's a painting that I don't really control — it eludes me as much as it reveals me.
Thierry Ménéchal, known by his artist name THIME, is a painter originally from the Dordogne region and based in Bordeaux. He works primarily with pigments, oil paints, and textured materials, drawing on a professional background outside the art world. He favors abstraction, using a palette knife for a spontaneous gesture, playing with transparency, movement, and relief with great expressiveness. His art is nourished by his travels, nature, and his emotions, inviting the viewer to deeply experience the inner essence of each work, like a sensory journey where sensitivity takes precedence over representation.
