About this artwork
The motif of the boat on the river draws on a long tradition of depictions of the crossing—symbols of movement, transition, and new beginnings. This work translates the theme into a contemporary visual language: the figures appear as translucent silhouettes, almost formed from light, while a red element acts as an accent, interrupting the flow of the image and creating dynamism.
The series "Holes in the Light" explores those spaces where the invisible… becomes visible—moments that make openness and change tangible. The river thus connects history and the present in a silent yet vibrant scene.

Uwe Kobold, a natural scientist by training, lives and works south of Munich. He combines analytical precision with artistic openness. His photographic series revolve around movement, rhythm, and change—not just as visible forms, but as experiences inscribed in the images. In Tango Argentino, he condenses closeness, tension, and the fleeting nature of the moment. In portraits, he traces the traces of personality and time; his images of plants and gardens reveal growth, change, and renewal.
