About this artwork
Why the title? It reminds me of a place I'd like to visit. Even though they probably don't do a carnival there, this still feels like a celebration to me.
Judging from the comments below it may be possible to say this painting is yet another love story! This time though, I am just in love with the process of painting and creation. A friend gave me a huge collection of oil pastel sticks and I used them again here for fast gestural work. That's what… I love about beginning paintings with acrylic paint - the fast and furious gesture work and in-your-face color.
"Love the design, color and drips," from Sophie
"Love love love the swooping blues and especially the white looping through and creating feelings of space and freedom! What a lovely combination of colors. Thank you for always sharing your work!"
Vicki Corley, a versatile painter and printmaker, originates from an abstract, impressionist, and expressionist background. She astutely utilises acrylics and oils, expressing her craft through gestural brushwork and contrasting mediums. Her art oscillates between fascination and mystery, conveying a profound love for colour and movement, effortlessly captivating even those biased against abstract art.
