About this artwork
This painting reminded me of a lesson I learned a few years ago. Back then, I was in burnout, and my coach gave me a book about the unconscious mind. The biggest insight? Our unconscious is far more powerful than logic — more than we in the West often realise. Other cultures have known this for a long time.
In the West, we’re taught to trust mostly what facts and logic prove. But life is deeper and more complex than that.
While painting this man,… that lesson came back to me. There’s so much to learn from people who live, believe, and see differently.
Not everything old is outdated — some wisdom goes beyond what we can explain.
That book was an eye-opener — a push to trust my gut, not just my head. To listen more to what’s already inside — even when it doesn’t make sense.
Maybe this painting wants to pass that on to you, too.
To remind you to stay open — to others, their beliefs and way of life.
And to your own inner wisdom — the quiet knowing that doesn’t need proof.
