« I consider myself an interpreter of nature and as an artist, someone who greatly appreciates the beauty of nature through using it as my model. I am an inward person and cherish the peace of being in my studio alone. »
Catherine Kirkwood is an experienced American painter who has exhibited her work nationally and been fascinated by art from a young age, profoundly affected by artworks she saw in museums growing up. Particularly drawn to the quiet and otherworldliness of water, she builds her paintings with the different layers and depths water displays: its reflections, movements and the mystery below the surface. Her finished pieces display balanced colour combinations and a serene luminosity.
