Andrée Roy's portraits are not based on photographs, as she paints from memory. The artist, who resides in Canada, enjoys creating characters that are larger than nature. Born of her imagination, she gives them a soul, a personality, and a sensitivity that impart strong emotions. A large part of Roy's work is based on abstraction since the techniques she employs have no finer details. She creates using oils and spatulas.
