« As I explore the possibilities of creating images from these surfaces and architectural elements, I hope to challenge the viewer to find pictorial unity within the various contrasts and tensions. »
Brad Nuorala's works express the diverse surfaces and structures of the urban landscape. The American painter finds inspiration in the architectural elements of older buildings, especially their thresholds, doorways, windows, and facades. In Nuorala's pieces, hard edges play against brushed and scraped surfaces, with the movement of painting juxtaposing against controlled lines and hard edges. He creates using acrylics on canvas.
