« My work attempts to represent us. That is the trail am following, without touching but diving instead. Even if it's dark, I know I'll find beauty in our tragedy. »
Bruno Sousa is a painter and draftsman based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in Portugal, Spain, and Germany. His narrative-based portraits explore unpleasant emotions such as despair, longing, and envy. Sousa believes that these experiences and feelings are more transformative to the human experience than happiness, as pain both scars and redefines us, which is something we can all relate to. His art is heavily influenced by Freud and Rorschach.
