Caroline is a multidisciplinary artist born in the West Midlands and now living and working in South Derbyshire. Her portfolio includes painting and installation.
My expressive abstract paintings are an interpretation of how I encounter the world, combined with my desire to explore the painted surface. With each layer, I focus on creating the illusion of light and movement, eluding to a feeling of landscape or architecture.
Inspired by the visceral nature of paint, I use a variety of tools, marks and contrasting elements to create a rich surface that bounces between freedom and control. My work is often free and expressive, sometimes controlled but always colourful.
Caroline received a first class Degree in Fine Art from the University of Derby. She also received the Vice Chancellors Award and her work is in the University collection. Following her success she was awarded the Gertrude Aston Bowater Scholarship Award towards her Masters in Fine Art at the University of Birmingham, which she completed in 2017. Caroline has exhibited in the UK and internationally.
