Christine Wolf

Christine Wolf, with her roots anchored on the coast, works mainly with traditional manual printing techniques and woodcuts. She is always drawn to France, Brittany, Wales and Denmark... she always carries a small shell in her pocket; for a beach feeling.
In her studio, a historic casemate in the heart of Hamburg, it smells wonderful of poplar wood,...coffee and Franzbrötchen!

Usually using just a knife, an old flea market find, resolutely carved into wood, the illustrator uses sheet-fed offset printing ink to create glossy, rich surfaces and uses white line cutting to create light, transparent veins - a real play of opposites.

Her works evoke a feeling of lightness + spaciousness and reflect her love for details.
