Artist Cody Bayne grew up surrounded by a family of Appalachian artists and musicians, although it was not until he encountered modern art on a trip to Stockholm that he realized what he would be able to accomplish as an artist. After this defining moment, he began to experiment with the styles of neo-urban expressionism and urban informalism. Although his work contains elements of mixed media, Bayne considers his pieces to be paintings, simply using alternative materials.
