Cornelia Wilke-Leptin has lived on her organic farm near Lake Wittensee, close to Eckernförde, for 30 years. This special place is ideal for creative pursuits. As a young woman, she taught at both a grammar school and a Waldorf school. After working with watercolors and gouache for many years, she discovered acrylic painting about seven years ago. During her art history studies, she had gained some experience with oil painting, which she then built upon. She now also uses squeegees, trowels, palette knives, and cardboard to create beautiful works on canvas.
The artist is essentially a shaman, patiently applying paint in a kind of ritual, waiting for a response, an inspiration. Just think of the fascinating videos in which artists use often extraordinary tools to apply paint to the canvas. For Cornelia, this is what is truly new that abstract art can offer us.
