Danielle Hewlett is an established South African painter who has exhibited her work nationally. She considers painting to be a physical act, valuing the texture, quality and gestural application of paint just as much as the story of the piece. Hewlett's artistic practice primarily explores concepts of personal identity and the power of past experiences in shaping the people we become. Her style of visual storytelling is marked by rich colour combinations, multi-dimensional narrative elements and characters that communicate a strong individual essence.
