Detlef E. Aderhold is an experienced German painter with extensive international exposure. Walking a fine line between figuration and abstraction, he composes paintings that serve as visual representations of a search for order in a seemingly disorderly world. Apparently irreconcilable aspects of the human experience are united and displayed through Aderhold's explorations of color, form and gesture, resulting in unique, powerful visual experiences. Overall, he achieves a body of work that cleverly balances scope, rigor, reflection and intensity.
