« To be an artist is not only to create but to innovate, to surprise, to go towards unknown universes. Originality carries its share of mystery, inexplicability, and irrationality. »
El Dji is an artist based in Senegal whose paintings have been featured in a solo exhibition in France. Through his works, he explores the "great subjects which constitute the concerns of our societies". He approaches his artistic process as if in a laboratory, completing several types of research before beginning a piece. Dji favors oil pastels, acrylics, and tar on paper.
