« I aspire to paint a profound moment, a glimpse into the tragic or sublime human experience that transcends culture, religion and time itself. »
As a child growing up in a small city in the United States, American artist Eric Armusik found artistic solace and inspiration in the paintings hanging in the Gothic church he attended. This inspired his exquisitely detailed portrait series, depicting mythological and religious figures. He works primarily with the medium of oil paint and charcoal, choosing to paint directly on wood, masonite and AlumaCorp in the style of Old Masters such as Caravaggio.
