« To me, it’s improvisation and trust that are the basis of how I create. »
U.S. painter Fiona Chinkan used to graffiti her friend's names while working her high school job at a local pizza restaurant. A customer saw her work and told her she should go into graphic design. Many years later, Chinkan creates abstract pieces deeply influenced by her background in lettering and graphic design. Chinkan's artistic process is highly intuitive- each mark is determined in relation to the previous mark. The resulting works involve brightly colored symbols and forms and an exciting use of negative space.
